I tried using more paragraphs since the one lined sentences was just me trying to keep the story consistent and coherent without boring people with a wall of text ! But the next chapters will be more paragraph structured.

Checking on people who have read it this far, give me your thoughts! I would love to hear them! I hope the characterization is okay and you guys are able to understand what is happening

Taisho-Era Facts About Moriko Akiyama !

1. Moriko almost never gets sick.
Her Akiyama immune system is unusually strong, so illnesses that knock other slayers out barely affect her. Moriko can be near them without suffering from their illness making her better suited to treat them.
2. Her tea is technically poisonous.
Moriko regularly drinks hibiscus tea containing diluted red spider lily poison to strengthen her resistance and keep her blood regulated. Shinobu is both fascinated and horrified.
3. Tsubaki gets away with everything.
Moriko almost never scolds her Kasugai crow, even when Tsubaki steals food, interrupts conversations, or pecks people.
4. Moriko notices everything.
Her quiet personality makes people underestimate her, but she quickly notices hidden injuries, lies, changes in behavior, and small details others miss.
5. Moriko has a secret Corps fan club.
Some Kakushi and younger slayers trade stories about her, gush over interactions with her, and even discuss her hairstyles. Moriko has absolutely no idea it exists.
6. Moriko is..left handed
Something Moriko has always hated when she became a slayer was having to force herself to be able to use her sword with her right hand since it sits on her left hip and she’s dominantly left handed. When fighting, she pulls her sword with her right hand and shifts it to her left hand. She later learns how to be ambidextrous from Kaoru.

Does anyone want their oc in my rewrite? As in like Moriko or Tengen can mention them etc

I have Iyori (by the wonderful and very cute u/plumdeww) already planned to be in it

This can be in like any of the arcs it doesn’t mean just for the entertainment district arc!

Wanted to make it more lively as if this universe is very big

With 4 days left in August, I wanted to reveal that starting September I will post 1 Moriko related thing everyday until her birthday which is September 23rd!

If anyone has any ideas for things they want to know about Moriko, or ideas for outfits etc please comment down below!

I can have Moriko react to your suggestions etc, you can ask for her opinion on your ocs and such as well since that will count

Note: Trying out writing Giyu more, I got this idea from a song I was listening to while doing model work and so we have waterlily eating at my brain send help

Moriko had been visiting Mount Sagiri more often lately. Urokodaki didn’t question it. She always had an excuse anyway: delivering herbs, discussing a mission, bringing food, or supposedly “passing through,” which was particularly unbelievable considering no one accidentally passed halfway up Mount Sagiri.

Things between her and Giyu had changed after her battle against Daki. Moriko had spent years burying what she felt for him, but nearly dying had made that considerably harder to justify. So now they were dating, although watching them interact, Urokodaki sometimes wondered if either of them understood what dating actually entailed.

That afternoon, Moriko and Giyu were sitting together on the engawa when Urokodaki noticed her fiddling with a small wooden charm.

“What are you making?” Giyu asked.

“A charm.”

“I can see that.”

“Then why did you ask?”

“I wanted to know what kind.”

Moriko gave him a look before holding it up. A tiny red flower had been preserved inside the dark wooden piece, with red cord tied around the top.

“It’s for your sword.”

Giyu blinked. “Mine?”

“Unless you want me to put it on your shoe.”

“No.”

“Then yes. Yours.”

She dropped it into his palm. Giyu studied it with enough seriousness that anyone else might have assumed she’d handed him an ancient family treasure.

“The flower is red.”

“Astute observation.”

“Like your earrings.”

That actually made Moriko pause.

“Yes,” she said, suddenly quieter. “That was intentional. It’s supposed to mean someone is waiting for you to come back.”

Giyu looked at her.

Moriko immediately looked somewhere else. “So don’t lose it.”

“I won’t.”

“Or break it.”

“I won’t.”

“And if you somehow drop it into a river…”

“I won’t.”

When Moriko finally glanced back at him, Giyu had the faintest smile on his face.

“I’ll keep it.”

Urokodaki had quietly walked outside with tea sometime during the exchange, and neither of them had noticed him.

Interesting.

Then he noticed the charm already hanging from Moriko’s sword: blue cord with a small piece of polished sea glass.

“Giyu,” Urokodaki said. “Did you make that?”

Giyu nodded. “Yesterday.”

“He gave it to me this morning,” Moriko added, looking rather pleased about it.

Urokodaki looked between them.

Giyu had made Moriko a water charm. Moriko had made Giyu a flower charm. Both had immediately attached them to the swords they carried everywhere, including into battles where either one of them might not return.

And somehow they seemed to think this was very casual behavior.

“I see,” Urokodaki said. “Then I suppose I’ll officiate.”

Moriko frowned. “Officiate what?”

“Your wedding.”

Giyu inhaled his tea.

Moriko’s entire face went red. “Our WHAT?!”

“We’re not getting married!” she protested while Giyu coughed beside her. “Giyu, tell him!”

Giyu finally recovered. “We aren’t getting married.”

“Exactly.”

He paused.

“Currently.”

Moriko slowly turned toward him.

“Giyu.”

“What?”

“What do you mean currently?”

“We aren’t married currently.”

“I KNOW THAT.”

“You told me to tell him.”

“You were supposed to say we aren’t getting married!”

“We aren’t.”

“EVER!”

Giyu stared at her for a moment. “I didn’t know I was supposed to decide that now.”

Moriko looked ready to throw herself off the mountain.

Urokodaki calmly drank his tea.

“We’re dating,” Moriko finally insisted. “That’s all.”

“Of course.”

“And the charms aren’t strange.”

“Naturally. Two people exchanging handmade charms representing one another so they can carry them into every life-threatening battle they fight. Completely ordinary.”

Moriko narrowed her eyes. “You’re making fun of us.”

“I would never.”

The tengu mask made lying remarkably convenient.

Beside her, Giyu was still examining his charm. “You’ll keep mine?”

Moriko’s irritation immediately disappeared. “Of course.”

“Even if it breaks?”

“I’ll fix it.”

Giyu nodded. “Then I’ll do the same.”

Moriko smiled and leaned slightly against his shoulder. Giyu’s hand quietly settled over hers.

Urokodaki looked at the two of them.

Yes.

He was definitely going to remind them of this someday.

And years later, when Giyu and Moriko actually announced their engagement, Urokodaki only had one thing to say.

“I believe I already volunteered to officiate.”

Moriko immediately covered her face.

Giyu, traitor that he was, simply replied:

“You did.”

I personally loved writing Kaoru’s guide and it didn’t take me as long as Moriko’s because I had the foundation and just used Moriko’s as a template!
