ICPC related

Me and my teammates were planning to give prelims from our room but in the emails they say we need to take the test in a classroom or computer lab under invigilation. Is this a hard and fast rule or just a formality? If its strict, how do I get an invigilator and access to a classroom for 3 hours on saturday? How do all the teams manage this each year? Thanks.

Story time Part 1.

This is gonna be a long read for you guys. I’ll use Hindi in between as well. It may seem fake because of the events happening in a single day but it is 100% real, it left me traumatised for months and even today I get goosebumps when I think about this experience.

It was a sunday in the early July of year 2021, lockdown was in its final phases, but not completely over(the schooling/coaching was still online). I was in 8th grade, from a past few tests I was not able to perform well, but the test on that day went pretty well so I was happy. Once I was done, my parents asked me to get ready as we are going on a day trip to Gagron fort(a fort on a peninsula near jhalawar, which is another town near kota where I live). My bua(father’s sister) and her son(he deceased last to last year due to an accident, he went to a waterfall with his friends, when he saw one of the friends drowning, he jumped in so as to save him but turns out it was sort of a water tornado,so no one was able to make it out,may he rest in peace.) and daughter.
My fufaji (bua’s husband)didn’t come because he was out for a business trip.so it was the 6 of us, 3 of them, me and my parents.
Nothing special happens on the way. First thing happens around 10km before reaching the fort. The car(an i10 so no big car, important for future reference) hit a speed bump at a fairly high speed and its silencer broke. We didn’t make much out of it at the moment and thought of getting it repaired once we are back and continued our journey. Then we crossed a bridge(main character of the story) to enter the peninsula(the way of entering the fort premises through land was entirely a jungle and the fort was covered by rivers from all sides except of the jungle one).
After this nothing special happens until 5 o clock in the evening but I’ll still shortly tell how the fort was. We entered and found ourselves a parking spot, found a big banyan tree to have lunch under it, then clicked some pictures here and there, then walked around the entire fort. At around 5 pm, a siren starts nearby. I felt chills in my body(as it was genuinely my first time hearing a panic siren like that) but didn’t make much out of it. We ignored it and kept continuing the journey. The fort was very old and a lot of 🦇 were living in it,plus it was very smelly from their poop(idk a more sophisticated word for this) but overall very haunted vibes. Before leaving the fort we urinated in some abandoned section of the fort(ik this was not important to mention but this is a part of hypothesis of why the stuff could’ve gone wrong with us).We went to our car and started driving out. This is where things take a bad turn.
When we reach the main gate of the fort,we found it closed. Then we noticed,we are actually the last to leave the fort but we never imagined that they will lock us in without warning us beforehand. We screamed “hello, anyone there?”, no response. We kept screaming and screaming and after a few minutes, the guard of the fort came back. He said “aap andar kese reh gaye? Mene to pura fort, saari parking, sab kuch check kara tha ,fir hi lock lagaya tha, agar aap aane me ek minute bhi late hote to me chala gaya hota aur aap log raat bhar yahi fas jaate “. We moved on,thanking god that we reached on time. But when we reached back to that bridge we came from, we saw it was completely submerged in water, around 2-3 ft depth of water above surface of bridge. Turns out the siren was a warning to leave the island as soon as you can because a dam has been opened from Madhya Pradesh and the water levels will increase a lot so if you don’t leave soon, you’ll be stuck on the island. Now obviously, we can’t go in that heavy flow water with an i10 with a broken silencer.Good News was, we weren’t alone stuck on the island, around 20-25 non island residents were with us.
I’ll continue the story in the next part (as I think Reddit has some character limit which is reached) which I will post 15-20 minutes later.I’ll try to give it’s link in this post or it’s comments.

Here is why you shouldn’t opt for IITKGP MNC

  1. it’s a BS degree, not a btech one.
  2. very math heavy
  3. tough to maintain cgpa
  4. remote location, 3hr from Kolkata (not a branch issue more of a college one)
  5. >!mujhe chahiye, please kuch aur lelo baaki sab🥹!<
