surprise shutdowns, ghost touching, restarts with plenty of battery
I've had my Pixel 6 for 4-5 years now without any issue. About 2 months ago I cracked the screen badly enough that a small chunk came out, and was using it without issue for several weeks. Ultimately I decided to replace the screen to keep water out of the visible hole (lower screen edge, metal underneath). Once the screen was replaced, the phone started having issues, but I don't know if that is the cause, or the timing is just coincidental and unfortunate. Issues: (1) When locked, the bar on the bottom of the screen that you swipe up to unlock the phone will flicker like it's being touched. Occasionally the fingerprint sensor does the same; (2) The screen goes black at random, inconsistent times, and then will restart or just flash back on with whatever battery level it started at. It's holding battery fine. Sometimes it's black for 5 minutes, sometimes for 4 hours. Every 1-4 days. Once it happened overnight, and I woke up to find my alarm going off while the screen was black and I could not turn it off/snooze even with the side buttons. (3) the selfie side camera has a fuzzy black ring around the picture that was not there previously. The tech who did the screen said this is normal for an aftermarket screen and I should just live with it.
The tech tested for battery issues and is not convinced it has any, nor does he think the screen could be causing blackouts. He suspects motherboard. He removed the screen twice now and could not find an issue.
Not sure whether to get a new phone, try another screen replacement under warranty, or swap the battery and see what happens.
I'm not a tech person so if you have thoughts try to share the elementary level version 🙏
