1 year on and floor sagging
Just over a year ago I had an extension and a new floor laid over both section.
The new part is block and beam, the old part is 12mm ply over suspended beams which are accessible under house through a hatch. We put an UFH overlay then 12mm screed over the whole thing followed by Amtico.
I noticed a few weeks back that I can see the crossbeam that sits under the joists through the floor. Queue slightly panic.
I spoke to my builder who said we likely need to upgrade joists and struts. Should I trust him to get on with it or get a structural engineer to review?
What is the safest course of action here?
I’m totally gutted. It was a lot of effort to work out the best UFH option and that part worked well.
