Anyone else self directs when leadership tells them to do something stupid?

I was asked to go stow, I’m in the dock. There’s 5 minutes left until break, I tell them can I go after break and they say no go now. They want me to stow on J cluster which is the other far side of the building from the dock. Also they’ve been sending out VTO every 15 minutes so I don’t understand what’s the hurry, by the time I walk to get a device, get a stow cart, login and go to the aisle they would have called break and break room is right next to the dock. So I just self directed and continued to water spider

What’s the point of staying behind to help stow down everything left to stow? Why do people stay back?

Our lunch is at 5 am so after lunch we work from 5:30 am to 8:30 am. That’s 3 hours straight and sometimes longer if lunch is called early around 4:45 am, so our last break is called at 8:30am but before break is called they try to get a group of people to stay back to stow remaining jiffies, OVs, and dwells and then after everything is stowed they ask the group to pick 2 routes before going to their last 15 min break. So in actuality they’re basically working around 4 hours straight maybe a little more than that. I just don’t see the point of why anyone would do that.

I used to stay back behind because we would take more than 15 min break, it was more like 20-25 min break and I assume managers allowed this because we stayed back to help and they wouldn’t say anything. But then managers started to labor track us now before going to last break. When they started doing that I see there’s no point of working an extra hour to help out. Especially because around 8:30 am they sometimes give us snacks and food which is mostly gone for those who stay behind to help. I mean why would anyone agree to this, I always tell them “no” now when they ask if I wanna stay behind.

Anyone else gets sleepy the last couple hours of work?

I work 10 hour shifts and during pick and stage I’m noticing a pattern. My eyes start to feel heavy and get watery and I feel soo sleepy and can’t stop yawnin, I just wanna close my eyes. This never happened before to me, usually the way my body works is when I get to work I’m sleepy, heavy eyes and not fully awake but as my work day progresses I become more and more awake. Now it’s the opposite.

What do y’all take or do to stay awake all shift at work? I don’t wanna take caffeine or energy drinks. Seems like everyone at work is chugging down caffeine and energy drinks all shift

What happens when someone gets hurt?

I’m confused because I see some people who get hurt go on leave to recover, but then I also see other people who get hurt that still show up to work with a boot or cast or whatever and they are just there hanging out in the break room the entire time. Are they still getting paid??
