Incidental finding on head/neck CT: Unusual bony outgrowth on the occipital bone near C1 (Atlas). Any idea what this could be? (Images attached)
Hi everyone,
I(32M) recently had a CT scan done primarily to evaluate my masticatory apparatus and plan treatment for bilateral TMJ dislocation.
While reviewing the scan, an incidental bony structure / outgrowth was found on the left side of my occipital bone, roughly at the level of the C1 vertebra (atlas).
I'm attaching some pictures showing the exact location and shape of this bone spur/growth.
Questions:
Has anyone seen something similar in this region?
Probably because of it atlas(c1) and axis(c2) are rotated slightly.
I am not seeking medical advice i am just curious.
