Moving to Cornwall - Honest Opinions
Hi Everyone,
I (27M) have been living in Devon for just over a year working as a doctor. I’ve spent as much of my free time as possible in Cornwall, quite frankly I’ve fallen in love with it (yes, even in winter!). This time next year, it’s likely I’ll move onto my next stage of training - and I am heavily considering applying to do so in Cornwall (along with my partner I live with).
So I pose this question to all residents of Cornwall - Do you think it’s worth the move? I have a good life in Devon, but I can’t escape the feeling of wanting to get closer to the ocean and more rural/rugged into terms of living. Please do share with me the good, the bad and the ugly. I understand many locals have a gripe with others moving in (although from what I gather this is mostly the Londoners buying second properties). I would be working there full time in the hospital - for a minimum of 3 years.
In particular I would like to hear about the following:
- Community
- Infrastructure
- Tourism
- Housing
- Feeling “isolated” given its geographic location.
I appreciate all input. TIA :)
