The UNSC Rubicon was responding to missing probes sent to Installation 00, the Ark, when they came upon a Forerunner signal beacon. The Ark’s systems had gone haywire with the recovery from firing Installation 08, and both weather and wildlife were incredibly hostile. The Rubicon dispatched all six of its Remote Contact Teams; RCT 1-5 would not return to the Rubicon, and RCT-6 would recover the remains of 343 Guilty Spark, sealing the remaining crew’s fate.

We’re featuring HazMat for the core with the Ecotech Sampler attachment - perfect for forays into unpredictable Forerunner installations. Seeker without attachments is our helmet, for lying low in a hostile environment; Icicle Falls on the VISR is meant to closely match up with the Kaolin Strand shader’s highlights. Our paired shoulders are the UTIL/Kobold TTB, which add a roundness to match with the chest; Threatwave SPES on the wrist for taking samples and IMEK gloves lend some science to our otherwise survival gear. Finally, we have OB/KGuard on the knees give us additional armor, and the Scantek 6300MIL on the hip to send data back to the Rubicon.

“Once we were clear, he tapped a button on his wrist, and the whole shield tower came crashing down. Even with the helmet on, you could tell he was smiling.” - Pvt. Bryant Wong

A sapper is a military engineer, who specializes in both demolition and construction. Who better for such a task than a Spartan? Such is the process behind what is now my “daily driver” appearance.

MK V (B) is our go-to, and we’re using the Big Sur shader and Citrine Wind VISR for its dull yellow, to play off our charges. EVA Gen 1 shoulders give us a protected but lower profile look, and we have UA/SAM on the wrist for use with our demo charges; Pullman Plate gloves because we accept no substitutes. On the chest we of course have TAC/Sapper Rig for our demolition needs, M45 Hardcase on the thigh, and UA/GND on the knees for the heavy lifting. Finally, the MK V helmet with the UA/Type E3 gives us a standardized look - the right balance of heroic and generic utility.

Today’s armor is a MK IV Security/Beta-5 outfit, designed for a more simple and practical armor blending Reach and H3 aesthetics. We’re using Wooster Smoke for our shader, but we’re going with blues (VISR, Emblem) instead of reds - it’s why we’re using the Security helmet, because it does not have the red highlights normally seen with this shader. The X-60 Protective Suite transforms many helmets into something new, and I really like how it looks on Security. SAP/OP matching shoulders give MK IV a less tanky appearance, without being too lean. TAC/POLESTAR gives a more practical attachment with its “grenades”, and gets more attention without a chest attachment; UA/TWISP kneepads most closely resemble UA/TYPE FJ off the MK V(B).
