Tracked every IT job posted in Austin this week (2,632 of them). One company has reposted the same DevOps role 12 times.
I've been building a Python scraper that pulls IT job postings from Dice and Indeed every week. Sharing what stood out in the Austin data from May 11-17 in case it's useful to anyone job hunting here.
**Top 10 hiring in Austin this week:**
- Apple - 146 (SAP, supply chain, C++/Python)
- Visa Inc. - 51 (SWE, Cybersecurity)
- Citi - 43 (Python, GenAI)
- Accenture - 40 (AWS, AI/ML, Architects)
- Visa - 38 (SRE, Cloud Network)
- General Motors - 37 (Cloud, Cybersec, FinOps)
- EPAM Systems - 33 (Python, AI/ML)
- UnitedHealth Group - 32 (AI/ML, Cybersecurity)
- Amazon - 30 (Supply Chain, Applied Science)
- Outlier AI - 27 (Python, Angular, mostly remote)
**The most interesting signal in the data:**
Jabil Circuit ($30B electronics manufacturer, big Austin presence) has reposted the exact same role 12 times this week: "DevOps & Software Development Engineer." They also did it in mid-April (11 reposts) and late April (10 reposts).
**A few other patterns worth knowing:**
- Defense / cleared roles are quietly hiring more than people realize: General Dynamics (22), Leidos (16), SAIC (14), ICF International (18). TS/SCI helps a lot.
- Maximus is hiring TS/SCI cleared Senior Front-End Devs and has reposted the same role 5 times.
- Outlier AI's Python roles are mostly remote, decent if you want flexibility.
- Healthcare is thinner overall but UnitedHealth alone has 32 open AI/ML and cyber roles.
If anyone wants the full breakdown (including the Bay Area comparison and which companies use staffing agencies vs hire direct), I publish this weekly at hirekompass.com. No signup wall on the issues.
Curious what would actually be useful for people job hunting here, salary ranges? remote vs onsite split? specific tech stacks broken out? Happy to add it next week if there's interest.
