“Oh boy. Mother’s Day is a ride. Can’t wait to spend Mother’s Day with my girlfriend and her mom.”

Karen just crosses her arms.

“Jeffery.”

“Yep. Your mom is the best.”

“Jeffery.”

He sighs.

“Do I really have to?”

Karen softens a little but doesn’t let him off the hook.

“Yes. She’s your mother. And yes, I know things are complicated between you and her. Still, you should spend the day with her at least.”

And Jeffery just sits there, knowing she’s right, but clearly hating that she’s right.
