Hokkaido Brown Bears
Hey all,
I am going on a road trip across hokkaido starting next week. Wondering if I should buy bells, whistles, or bear mace in Sapporo. I'm not hiking some crazy trail or doing much outdoorsey stuff. Basically going around the resort areas (Niseko, Lake Toya, Noboribetsu, Furano, Biel, and Asahikawa with a few days in Hakodate). Will be driving up to some view points which have less people/more remote but not hiking any trails where its not going to be some big open space. Some of the roads going up to these view points are kind of sketch for wildlife but i'm in a car so i'm thinking, wildlife is avoidable if i'm careful. But man if hit a cub and my car is wrecked, we become lunch meat. Hoping to drive like 10-3pm around those parts. anyone have experience driving hokkaido and have any advice?
