Have you ever wished that a tiny hamster wizard would just install your mac apps for you? That way you could just double click any .DMG, and it would:
- mount
- install to /applications
- open to the app in Finder (optional)
- unmount the DMG
- move the DMG to the trash (optional) so it doesn't sit in your downloads folder taking up space for the next year
Well, I'm here to inform you, your dreams have come true! EasyDMG handles all of that in about 1 second. It only runs when you open a DMG, so it doesn't take up space in your dock or menubar.
It's also local (privacy!), native (fast!), and cheap (free!). I made it just for the joy of making stuff. And because I was annoyed that nothing like this existed yet.
If there's anything weird, like a .pkg or an installer, EasyDMG simply falls back to manual control and lets you handle it. 98% of the time (according to rigorous studies, obviously) a DMG is simple and is completely handled in a second. No more dragging the little app icon into the little folder, like a peasant.
If you are reading this and wondering what's a DMG, you're probably a Windows user. Sadly, this hamster has no soup for you. A DMG is how apps are installed on mac. It's traditionally a small but annoying process with needlessly many steps. Some of which it's common to forget. Then you end up with mounted volumes sticking around, and a GB of old useless .dmg in your downloads folder. The next thing you know, there’s money missing off the dresser, and your daughter’s knocked up. I seen it a hundred times.
Check out EasyDMG! It's codesigned, with a privacy policy and security policy. Sadly it's not available on the App Store as they don't allow certain functions that EasyDMG needs to work.
