Where do we go from here ?

What's good my cyber people, I am here looking for which direction to go.

For context about where I currently am in my cybersecurity "career" and my circumstances; I have

  1. Security+

  2. A year of experience of on paper (6 months in actuality actually triaging alerts in DataDog and Microsoft Defender

  3. From the Caribbean

  4. No higher education (degreeless)

I want to be a SOC analyst, looking for a remote L1 SOC job, I fully understand that the market is terrible right now and even more so for newcomers but there isn't much I can do about that except get my skills up to scratch and apply when I can.

With that being said I'm trying to figure out what could really make me stand out in my search, I've heard of doing TryHackMe (started it for a bit but cancelled the subscription), making a home lab and making a github (not sure what that means or even entails), Doing additional certs like SC200 to actually get familiar with the SIEMS required by the companies that primarily hire internationally. If anyone has any guidance for me it would be much appreciated.
