Writing Many-Part String Divisi-- Advice/Tricks

Writing Many-Part String Divisi-- Advice/Tricks

Hello all! Currently writing a chamber orchestra piece for a call for scores. The instrumentation is as follows: 1111.1110.timp+2.harp, and strings (6 1sts, 5 2nds, 4 viola, 3 cello, 1 bass).

I am looking to do some Penderecki/Jonny Greenwood type scoring where the strings are treated more as independent instruments/voices (though this is where the similarities end! The piece will be quite a bit less textural than the ones listed above.) so I can achieve some more interesting textures/fuller harmonies.

I am curious if any of the more experienced orchestrators on here have any advice that is a little more sophisticated than I what I have gleaned from my more conventional study in orchestration. Any scores that use crazy divisi like this are also very appreciated!
