Wired electric problem
I am currently trying to understand what my grandfather did to the power of our house, he passed away. Im trying to understand what he did to our houses power. It seems he ran a cable from the breaker not to sure on that part, but there's a wire coming from under our house that I only assume is running to the break, I haven't went down there to check but I will. From the breaker it leads to our garage and he made a make shift suicide extension cord that plugs in to this specific out let that gives the whole house power, we obviously since disconnected this cord because as you kno it's a major hazard, I want to understand why something like this would have had to be done. Can someone give me a reason as to why it must be done? Also How would I go about fixing it? The house is currently without power because this cord is no longer plugged in
