Behavior question: Grey Catbird calling from a certain set of branches on a certain tree every day for the last several days. Why?
I noticed we have a grey catbird that sits in roughly the same spot every day and calls. I don’t see a nest but that doesn’t mean there isn’t one in the tree.
My hypothesis is that they’re calling their mate to say “hey! This is a good tree” or calling to find a mate to show off the good nesting spot they found.
They are doing an elaborate song comprising of a number of different bird calls.
I’m just super curious as to this behavior. It’s probably super simple and I just don’t know.
Thanks for any help!
