Provoked PE

Hi all,

An introduction and venting post TBH...

I'm on Apixaban 5mg every 12 hours. I feel so light headed, constant headache and tinnitus. I'm going to see my GP (UK NHS) this coming Monday and see if they'll drop me to 2.5mg dosage. As the side effects are debilitating.

December 2025 I had orthopaedic surgery on left leg and knee. I had a bone graft and plate revision, plus knee arthroscopy.

Recovery was going really well. I returned to JiuJitsu and weight training, plus bikeerg 3 times a week.

But on day 97 post surgery I woke up at 2am feeling like my ribs were broken.

A day in A&E with a CT scan to be told 'Left Sided Lower Lobe Segmental PE with low burden'. I did the 10mg x 2 dose for 1 week and been on 5mg x 2 ever since. Now just over 8 weeks post diagnoses.

My leg surgery was on private medical and I'm seeing private Haemotology and Respiratory consultants. Even with these resources I'm finding nobody is interested in the side effects experiencing.

I'm 39M, 183cm 88kg usually train 6 days a week and highly active. This has had such a negative impact upon my mental health.
