With all the Jaylen Brown discourse, I just thought a little trip down memory lane might be worthwhile:

> “Last year was the best basketball I’ve played in my entire career,” Bryant said in 2014, per the New Yorker. “I’ve never worked so hard in my life to prepare for a game, in film study, quarterbacking on the floor, putting everybody in the right position, and then having to take care of my body. It was literally no life because my body was hurting so much. I had to ice-bath, stretch, massage, elevate my legs, stretch, and then go out and play.”

> “But the results were irrefutable.” He added, “It doesn’t stop. That’s what I’m saying. It becomes life, you know? To be at that level, that’s what you have to do.”

And here is the full context of what Brown said that seemed to cause so much drama:

>"Honestly, this was the most fun season I’ve ever had in basketball, personally. The uncertainty of going into the season, the uncertainty of going into every game, having to fight for every win did something emotionally, I feel like, for all of us. We became more together. We had to fight, and we had to play with passion every single night. And we did."

>...

>“Most people wanted us to tank. Most people still probably wanted us to tank because of the way the season turned out, but you never know how a season is gonna go. All you can ask from the players is give it your all, and that’s what this group did.”
