In the early 2000s, PF was originally known as "Ted Turner" debate, as the style was loosely modeled after Crossfire, a show featuring political debates on CNN. Ted Turner helped sponsor the development of and popularize this new style of debate, as it was intended to be a more accessible and jargon-free means of competitive public speaking.

Thank you, Ted Turner, for your contributions to high school speech and debate. May you rest in peace.

The alleged perpetrator of the White House Correspondent's Dinner shooting is being labeled as a teacher, despite working as a tutor for a corporate test prep company.

My suspicion is that the powers that be will exploit this as another opportunity to vilify teachers as fringe extremists, hellbent on indoctrinating the youth with our liberal agenda.

I hope I'm not right.
