Hey everyone, I hope everyone is having a good start to their Wednesday. Im an Estate Tournant Chef in the area and I've been curious on how the public would react to a business idea I have that my employer might back if there is interest. So I personally have been struggling to afford food and I probably make more, or the same, that the average person my age (28) makes in the area. So I thought maybe there would be interest in a business like factor of blue apron, but made in our events kitchen. we have the capability to make and store food for around 150 people at once and if the meals were more streamlined probably could get that to 200. Not only would the food be fresher than an normal meal subscription, with advanced notice it could potentially be more customizable. I have experience with multiple styles of cuisine and dietary restrictions.
We already do something similar for Thanksgiving, but I'm thinking more in-line with what the normal family needs to survive. With how expensive groceries are, and how much everyone is working to just scrape by, we can get a 100lbs of meat or produce at a fraction of what you would pay in the store. And I know a lot of people are too tired to cook a full healthy meal, so maybe not having to worry about that would help.
There would obviously be some logistical issues or hurdles we would have to address before this was a thing, but I wanted to get some normal people's opinion on it. Is it dumb? What would you pay for a meal? Would you prefer Frozen or fresh options? Would you rather have it be cooked ingredients that you can put into a meal at your discretion ( example: packaged mashed potatoes that is separated from cooked asparagus)? Any input would be helpful!
