I've lived in my home for 6 years now and aside from changing the filter regularly I have never had any of my furnace, we are moving out in less than a week and over the weekend I noticed that the furnace van is constantly running.
I have a Honeywell t5 thermostat in the house, it is plugged in via a power adapter as I didn't have a power switch with the furnace wiring. As we were moving items out on Saturday one of my friends was helping me move dropped a bed twice which caused the power adapter to become unplugged and plugged back in three times before being left unplugged which I didn't notice.
When I came home and plugged the power adapter back in everything seemed fine, the furnace was heating the house, however, even when the house was up the temperature the band did not turn off. No matter what I do with the thermostat I can't seem to get the fan to turn off, email and I turn the thermostat off.
My research has led me to the limit twitch, which I measured and it is 8 in, now to buy a new one it's about $250 which obviously if I can avoid I would prefer that.
My questions are as follows.
Is there any way to determine if the limit switch is in fact the fault?
Based off of the information provided, would you as an experienced track tech think that might be the issue?
I removed the limit switch to measure it, it doesn't appear as though the bi-metal is broken or unwound, as far as I can tell the limits are set normally.
