Hi, I'm 18 from Bosnia and Herzegovina and about finishing my high school computer science and programming).Tbh level of knowledge I "gained" in school is close to what I already knew at 14 from playing video games and basic research when i was curious.Recently I've become serious about my future.
I'm mostly interested in Cyber security, networking etc...
I'll probably enroll in Math/Informatics university because its most practical option, and my parents want me to get a degree from a public university. My parents have done a lot for me, so I want to respect their wishes in return.
My biggest concern is how to learn properly outside of formal school without wasting years on random things and no clear structure.
So I wanted to ask:
If you were in my position, what would you focus on the most right now?
What kind of roadmap would you recommend for cybersecurity/networking over the next 2–3 years?
Which beginner certs, skills, or tools are actually worth learning?
How do you self study efficiently without getting lost or wasting time?
I’d really appreciate honest advice from people already working in IT.
