AC UNITY story

So I’ve been recently playing AC Unity, Ik crazy-

So I never played the AC games when they came out, it was always years before so if there’s something I miss please update me-
Anyway, so in AC Unity story IN CONCEPT I think is really interesting. Not gonna spoil cause this isn’t the point of the post, but the main story kinda sets itself up as a sorta Romeo and Juliet, or ig a Doomed lovers tale, two different sides fighting eachother and two people from those sides come together by love but ultimately ends in tragedy. Its the perfect set up for Arno and Elise to learn about their own and eachother group and how they can both seem ideal and problematic.
It’s an interesting idea, do I think it was executed well? Eh. But that’s a post for another time

So the point of this post is to ask a question. Do you think AC Unity should’ve had a Co-op story mode, or an ability to play co-op in arno’s memories, or a mix of both.
I ask this cause of the trailers in the game store and in promotional martial was promoting the multiplayer co-op feature for the game. Now when I saw i first saw the trailer for Unity, I thought it’d be like syndicate where you have multiple protagonist or have gameplay elements of the assassin brotherhood taken from AC brotherhood and revelations. So I think they were marketing the multiplayer being a huge thing in the game but it comes down to side-content that you can play with randoms or friends and has no REAL story, which is fine but I was expecting something different.

Anyways so I wanted to ask, do you guys think the co-op should’ve had its own story, co-op integrated into the main story, do you think it’s fine as is? LMK

POISON BLADE

Hey y’all, I have a genuine question, can anyone explain what was purpose/ function of the poison blade in AC2- Revelations (I think it was in revelations?) besides the poison dart upgrade, I always felt it did the sammmmeeee thing as the hidden blade but was limited use and enemies took slightly longer to die-

WEAPON HEADCANNONS

Hey y’all, so assssss we all knowwww weapons are a things in assassins creed? I know shocker.

In all seriousness I wanna know personally what your head cannons are about which weapon you think each Protagonist each Assassin used.
This goes for games like The Ezio trilogy where you have choices in what weapons you get to use, and what variant of said weapon each protagonist used. For example, the different variants of Edward’s Flintlocks and dual swords.

With that being said I wanna hear what y’all think each protagonist used during the events of the story. Doesn’t have to be cannon or supported by cannon, it can be your own opinion or a in-depth rant why you think said character used what during the game, only real rule being it have to have been in the game in someway, wiether be trailers, or cut content.

Please LMK

(I’ll probably make a follow up post abt what I think later but please have fun)

So as I’m sure many of us are familiar, Assassins Creed has a series of comics, novels and other things outside of the games and I have some opinions on em.

As far as I’m aware, the novels are just the novelized version of the games and an expansion of them as well, which me personally, I think it’s weird.

Like cool, something to collect, but ultimately the same story- which to me kinda comes off as, why didn’t you just, have these details or elements in the game? As yk, assassins creed is a **video game** series.

And the comics/manga as i understand, are cannon to the series, which i think is kinda dumb, and mainly, cause of the modern day sections. Now I haven’t read em and idk if I ever will, but from what Im seeing and trying my best to understand, is that some contain very important information within the modern day story.

wether you love em or hate em, the modern day sections are very important to the overall story of assassin’s creed as it’s to tie the past to the present ongoing war between Templars and Assassin’s. And yet that story is being continued in both the games , and a comic series.

If it was like the novels where they were just expansions of a pre-existing story, or were gonna be addressed or followed up in one of the following games, or have a video game version of them, that would be fine, but I don’t like it when I feel like I’m missing parts of the story that I didn’t knew about for years and learn about a comic series I never learned about till later in life, it upsets me as a fan or at the very least as someone who wants to enjoy the story.

To show how much of a problem this is- Desmond has an illegitimate son, Named Elijah, WHOS A SAGE! And seem to not be affected by Aita’s (the sages) memories and visions. Juno gained a human body somehow? Oh and btw JUNO is DEAD! Which really shocked me cause she had such a great presence and important character to the Desmond Era of AC and she died in a comic series and is never addressed in game as far as I’m aware-

We also had an important character, Juhani Otso Berg, who was introduced first in the comics and first in game appearance was Assassin’s Creed rogue, which already I have issues with. And in that game he kinda just shows up like he was an already established character like we knew who tf he was? The game does tell us a little bit about him, though collectibles, which I don’t need to say, but no one likes those and guarantee you majority of players either never went for them or bother to read em.

From what I can tell there’s also elements or a band of modern day assassins besides Rebecca, Shaun, Bishop (anyone remember her) and William Miles, which why isn’t this a thing we get to see or learn about in game? Like really? a lot of people loved the modern day sections in AC 3 with Desmond and how badass that felt, why don’t we get more of that?

Point is, **I feel** if ya wanna tell a story within a certain medium, stick with it, cause when you switch or expand to different medias, it can heavily affect your fanbase and change the overall experience for them when you switch media, and tell have important story elements be told outside of the pre-existing established media and can make it hard for average fans to follow your story.

(Ik the movie and now the Netflix series are example’s of media expansion as well, but at least with the movie I personally knew of the trailers and saw promotional material for it. )

For example, a game I really enjoyed was the Prototype series, switch only had two games, and one of the problems with the sequel game is that the protagonist of the first game is now the antagonist of the second game, and is comedically evil. And the reason why is told through a comic series that I’m pretty sure a lot of people didn’t know about- and was to explain why the first protagonist began evil, and it’s incredibly cliche. And that really upset a lot of people cause it seemed the switch from being an anti-hero to villian was incredibly sudden and outta no where and unknowingly to them, there was a small comic series that was the reason why-

Question of the day is-

  1. What’s y’all opinion on the Novels, Comics, Books? Are they any good? Or just more Ubisoft slop.
  2. Do you guys agree when major parts of a story is told outside, in different media?
  3. How many of y’all actually knew and when did you knew about the comics? And if you knew they were cannon?
  4. Aye, what’s a matter with you Altair?

Edit: here’s another question-

  1. Do you feel they should be cannon, or do you feel they should be retcon? Or do you dont care eitehr way?
