Blooming

Tiny blossoms

White, purple, and violet

They speak to me

Of calmness

Peace

Of quietness

And gentle strength.

They remind me that healing

Comes in many forms

But all require patience.

And they speak to me of friendship

For now, in my garden,

I'll always know you're close.

First year male Baltimore Oriole? Ottawa, ON

There are multiple orioles around the garden where I work. I think the head is too black to be a female so I'm looking for confirmation or correction of whether this is a first year male.

One of the brightest males seems to be tolerating this one but not others, so I suspect this is maybe his offspring from last year?

Any thoughts are appreciated. Note that Baltimore is the only oriole in range here, and this one did sing at one point and the song was consistent with Baltimore as well so I don't suspect any other species.

A lot of patience paid off when this beautiful Baltimore Oriole sat at the top of a flowering apricot tree in my local university garden.
