ATL Gear & Accreditation Pickup (Firsthand Experience)

I went to get my accreditation and gear this morning (ATL) and thought I would share my experience for those who may find it helpful.

  1. Budget at least an hour, if not two. There are up to 7 stops you have to make once you're onsite - accreditation kiosk (self-service), accreditation desk (and help desk if you experience an issue), uniform desk, uniform try-on, shoes, and bag pickup/check-out. Add in the other 20+ people that are there to do the same thing as you and it takes some time.
  2. For ladies, you can bring a small purse if you need to - the only place it's a little tight is at the fitting room station but if you can avoid a purse definitely do, as it's a bit cumbersome carrying stuff around to each of the stations.
  3. Wear clothes you can easily get on and off or that you can keep on underneath during try-ons - The fitting rooms are SMALL and dark, and the walls are temporary (i.e. flimsy). I only saw 5 fitting rooms (I think) so the quicker you can be, the quicker and easier the process will be for everyone. There are full sized mirrors in each fitting room.
  4. Ladies, it's true that the sizing for pants is different than the shorts - For reference, I'm (F) 5'8, 130lbs with a slim but curvy build and ended up with Small T-Shirt, Small Pants (but could've done a Medium), X-Small Shorts, and a Medium Jacket.
  5. Wear or bring socks, and don't put your shoes back on after your uniform try-on - You'll head straight to the benches to try on your FIFA shoes after the uniform fitting. There's not a great place to sit down to put shoes back on before the shoe try-on benches anyways.
  6. Shoes are not unisex and some shoe sizes are already out of stock - I believe I was told Women's size 9 was already gone so plan for flexibility between Men's and Women's sizes, or to size up/down. Adidas typically run small on me but I ended up with my true size (8.5). The shoes are COMFY.
  7. The full bag of gear is a bit bulky but can definitely still go on the MARTA. If you're wanting to drive, ParkMobile offers parking for ~$3.80 an hour depending on time of day - Use the app to find Zones 51001 which are close to the center.

Definitely pack your patience - You may have your feelings about FIFA but remember, your fellow volunteers are in the same boat you are. With that said, thank you to all the uniform and accreditation staff and volunteers today who provided a great pick up experience while also learning their own roles.

Happy FIFA World Cup!

Just got the email to schedule my kit and accreditation pickup (ATL). Looks like they’re starting pickup on May 11th. All times I saw were between 10:30am and 3:30pm (though I only looked at the first couple days). You pick up your accreditation THEN your uniform (same time slot). Earlier you can grab your gear the better, it seems, especially if you anticipate needing a size different that you originally provided - App stated that once they run out of a size. that’s it.
