My husband and I own a 3 bed house on a road we really like. We have two kids (3 and 6 months) and are planning on having a third so would definitely like some more space (but not in an enormous rush while the kids are very small). We have been weighing up doing our attic to get another bedroom and bathroom vs buying and got some quotes for that which have been pretty steep.
We have just found out that there are two houses on our road that have already been extended to have 5 bedrooms that are going to be coming up for sale soon. We approached one (which is a flip, it sold last year but needed total redecorating) and the guy is a bit interested in making a deal but we think he'll end up going to the open market. The other we only found out about today and we've let them know we're interested and waiting to hear back.
Just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to approach this kind of situation? How do you negotiate a price if it's a private sale? Would it be weird to ask if we can do our own valuation?
