My take on this Years Eurovision production-quality
It came to my mind, that this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna is a major letdown in my opinion, even though it’s the 70th anniversary. As an Austrian eurofan, i am so frickin embarrassed about our nations image 😭
Last year, the Swiss did an AMAZING job hosting the contest in Basel, literally everything was perfect (plz win again Switzerland ily), so the bar was already set very high. But y’all have to know, right when we won last year, the Austrian government decided to implement a “Sparplan” (budget cuts), which was probably the worst timing ever.
As we all know, more participations = more budget and each country has to pay less, but Austrias dire situation got even worse, when a specific country remained in the contest, which resulted in a boycott of 5 countries, two of them were the biggest sponsors (Spain and the Netherlands). Sooo, that meant less money for esc and the fandom was furious as well.
And now we’re here, the contest has begun and the waves of criticism began crashing down on Vienna:
Even though i am an optimistic person, i look forward to the end of this esc’s season (my first time saying this)
Everything looks cheap, the stage is extremely small, the internet hates the interval acts and our hosts, the postcards are horrendous in comparison to the ones from last years, AI is almost everywhere, the situation with a certain country is heated as well. Remember, this is just my opinion.
And i get it, i may sound like a big complainer, but i watched Eurovision since my early childhood and was so excited about our win last year (i love JJ sm), but now i am just disappointed. I would like to know what you think about this year’s quality, production-wise.
