How long after orchi should chemo start?
Hi everyone. My spouse had his orchiectomy (right) on 5/4/26. We receive his pathology yesterday: 70% EC, 15% Yolk Sac, 15% Teratoma. Stage 1B T2 LVI+. I was extremely relieved that he was still stage 1 considering the tumor had grown to 6.8cm by the time they took it out. It was contained within the testicle, no spread to spermatic cord and CT scan 10-days post op were clear. Post-op bloodwork pending. Our urologist said he’ll just need 1 round of chemo and referred us to an oncologist but they don’t have availability for over a month. He said we don’t have to rush with chemo but I don’t fully trust him and his lack of urgency (we originally suspected TC in late March with first sonogram showing 2.1cm mass but he brushed it off saying it was epididimytis, at the follow up on 4/24 he saw it had grown and scheduled the orchi for 5/4).
In the meantime I made an appt for next week at a different cancer center cause we want a second opinion and from what I’ve seen online it seems like most ppl start adjuvant BEP a few weeks post-op. Am I rushing unnecessarily or could we wait until end of June/early July to start? We have a trip to EU planned for mid June which I have no problem cancelling if he has to start chemo soon. Would love some insight on timing and likelihood of metastasis with LVI+. Thank you!
