Sell my ES-355 or carry it transatlantic

We are moving from the UK to the US in a few months. Do I sell my IGC ES-355 or try and take it as a carry on. We are probalby flying Delta or ViginAtlantic for the long haul and then DeltaConnect.

Delta allows a guitar as a carry on. It goes in the closet if there is room. Otherwise they gate check it. -- I'm not entirely confident it would survive being gate checked.

I like my ES-355 but it isn't a special one. I could sell it here for about £300 less than I paid for it and buy another after we move.

I know I could buy a seat for it. Ticket price is more than I paid for the guitar.

I played the 12 String IBG Hummingbird yesterday at the London Garage. This was the first time I had a 12 string of any kind in my hand.

I have the IGC Hummingbird Deluxe, which I really like. Been looking forward to trying the 12.

Impressions. It was wildly out of tune and took me a good 5 minutes to get it close enough to play.

I'm a beginner - been playing for about 4 months. I was surprised how easy it was to fret. I keep reading about how hard 12s are. Maybe it is the short scale. The neck and string spacing are a good fit for me.

I suppose I might feel different if I knew any barre chords.

That said the tone was disappointing.. Maybe because I have the IGC and this is an IBG. Maybe it is over braced to support the extra strings. It just doesn't have the resonance and life that my IGC bird has.

It was fun but I won't be buying one. I do want a 12 some day.. Maybe a Guild or ????

We’re going to London soon and will likely stop at the Gibson Garage.

They have a huge selection of Epiphone guitars in the basement. Surprisingly few basses, though.

What would you be tempted to try?
