Basicly, I said that i had a wrong perception about linux and concluded that linux rules after switching to it. Idk if the subreddit about r/linux you are not supossed to say that you migrated to linux for x reasons. No attacks, I don't really know why my post was deleted, when the moderators answer I will edit this post.

Context

I've always been obsessed about software. My first interaction with linux was like in 2020-2021? It was Ubuntu, i liked it but it didn't have some games supported so I decided to switch back. 1 year later i tried llinux mint, same issue. Although i've encountered many more issues with the OS (don't remember). On those OS's I only stayed there for 6h.

Well, back in 2024 I started coding and I've started to watch Bog. I was learning neovim thanks to him and i've becoming more confortable with the terminal. After that, he made his arch linux video and I've went straight to that arch linux (with archinstall). I've liked it, I then started distro hopping to (in order): nixos, gentoo, (idk), fedora, debian, void, gentoo, arch. And after that, Windows 11 LSTC. And after Windows, Linux Mint.

Why did I switch to Windows

Some software support, although the only one i needed was Radmin VPN with gamers, but i could always use hamachi for that, i think it was more of an excuse. The real reason is that I've lost hope for linux. And you may ask, ¿why? It's because I saw the community as a fragmented one who doesn't like to get the job done. They tend to fight things that make linux not to surpass Windows. That's basicly why. For example, the systemd debate, X11-Wayland-Xlibre debate, etc. Also I've seen some toxic behaviour in Linux forums that made me be disgusted.

Also, the software I've always been using in Linux, all of them are broken.

Why did I switch to Linux Mint

Well, Windows it's not an OS, it is mostly an app launcher. I don't want an app launcher, I want to interact with the native file explorer or start menu without flaws. Everything in windows, in the UI sense, seems broken. This is probably because I am in LSTC, but no way I am going to the comercial version after all the random crap is going there too.

I am saying that it is an app launcher because Windows is good at software support, but the OS itself is so unpleasant to use.

And, I've talked with some people that are into Linux, and they sayed that the reason I've troubles with linux is that I always went with the "ultra minimalistic OS's". And that's true, the only good stable OS's i went were Fedora and Debian. And I've stayed in them for a short time. The issue I had with Debian is that It always became for me a mess. With Fedora, it was NEVER stable, even Minecraft was 0% stable.

So, i saw the light again. Yeah, is true that linux has a lot of dumb debates or toxicity that makes Linux not being able to surpass windows. But it is also true that when I tried linux in the 2021's a lot of things were broken but now they aren't. So i got hope and saw that things are actually getting a lot better than before. And the last year I couldn't play some games, and now I can play them very easily!

So yeah, I went now to an OS that just works and doesn't get in my way, and also feels pleasant to use. I've tried Linux Mint into a VM and god, it is so cute, predictable, customizable and "works perfectly as intended" OS. A litte later I put Linux Mint into my USB and install it. And god, it feels SO GOOD. I needed to use the terminal just once (just a "flatpak install polytoria.flatpak") and everything feels smooth. The software manager is great and appimages really save the Linux experience.
