if you're an author, don't go into the bookmarks if you're not prepared to get your feelings hurt.

we can (and do) argue all day about whether bookmarks are the reader's space, or the author's, and whether or not readers should leave negative comments or critiques/criticism there. but the fact is that they *do*, and authors are aware of this. so if you, as an author, choose to read the comments on your fic's bookmark, it's on you if you get your feelings hurt.

i say this as an author.
