I’m [32F] scheduled for a hysterectomy (plan is to keep my ovaries) in a few weeks’ time. I’m scared of the surgery and possible organ prolapse and recovery complications, which I’ve had after laparoscopic Stage 3 endo surgery before. I’m grieving my soon-to-be lost fertility, which is confusing since I don’t cognitively want children.
At the same time, I’m a heat pack and two Buprenorphine tablets deep and miserable, trying to cope my way through my current agonising pain flare… and nothing is helping.
I’m just in pain and I’ve had enough and I’d love some emotional resonance, especially from people who are on the other side of a hysterectomy. I’ve heard some people say it’s been life-changing for them, in the best way. Has it been for you?
