I think I missed my oral medication

This is my first time since I was diagnosed for nearly 4 years. But I think I may have forgotten to take my evening pills tonight. I recounted and it’s off.

I shouldn’t feel horrible because I am on the highest dose for this clinical trial and it’s better to play it safe than double dosing.

But I am filled with guilt and frustration for a small mistake like this. :/

This cancer makes me on edge. I hate this disease so much.

So… no major side effect with this new medication so far.

I have started this new clinical trial for about two weeks. The only thing I have noticed is very slight nausea for the first hour after taking the medication sometimes.

The good news is that my immune system is much better than than when I was on the previous trial, but I expected it to drop a bit further as it accumulates for the next few weeks.

Hopefully my PET scan in August will be great! 🤞

“But you’re not contagious”

I had a guy get upset because I wear a medical mask while working with the public. I explained to him that I have cancer and going through treatment, but he still wasn't happy and told me that I am not contagious.

I went through 6 medical tests this month and start my next clinical trial tomorrow. I wish some strangers are a bit more considerate.

Most are, most people are very considerate. It is just one bad apple that spoiled the bunch.

6 medical tests this month

PET scan, CT scan, and brain MRI all on Monday. I had a bone scan, echocardiogram, and eye exam last couple weeks.

I am bit nervous about the brain MRI as the “what if they found something there” thoughts.

If everything goes well, I start the new clinical trial on Thursday. I just hope that nothing pops up that we have to change course.

New clinical trial

Update on my cancer: I got back from the doctor's. My scan is stable compared to my PET scan last month. However, looking at one of my liver spots, it was a bit dense and slightly larger (about 2 mm) than it was a few months ago. I have decided to change treatments, and my doctor thinks this will be the best course. The new treatment is very similar to the clinical trial drug. It's an anti-tumor treatment plus an FDA-approved treatment (there's an oral medication or oral with a once-a-month shot). I will be going in sometime next week to sign papers and start right away.

This is the trial. If anybody is part of this, please reach out. I am curious how it is going well for you.

One of the medications I am on had been approved by the FDA

It’s called vepdegestrant, while I am not on this clinical trial but I am using this with another clinical trial drug.

So far the side effects have been minimal.

My oncologist and I looked at the PET and CT scan results on Wednesday.

There was a fairly large spot on my lower/mid spine, and it is completely gone.

This means this experimental drug is working. For those who are interested, it’s Vepdegestrant with PF-07220060. I will send the direct link below.

There is a small spot of concern in the lower liver. It could have been there for a while, only detected by a PET scan. The last PET scan was about a year and a half ago, as the clinical trial only does CT scans and bone scans unless something is concerning (we decided to get one of a maybe increased size of another liver spot of my last CT scan, but the PET scan show little difference of that one). I was off Lynparza for about six weeks before I started the trial, so it the lower one could have grown before then but stop; or it may well be the liver mets may showing some slow resistance.

We are going to do another PET scan in about two months and see if there is any difference.

However, since finishing chemotherapy about three years ago, this is my first time an oral medication has shown shrinkage. Overall, I am happy.
