Tank is dwindling

Unfortunately, I’ve had a few days of 3 deaths and now noticing today another 3 not coping very well. Very slow swimming and sticking to the top or bottom of the tank.
Yesterday I also noticed one of my very slow adults only had a tails worth of food in its digestive tract which is odd for an animal that eats as it swims.
I’ve been removing the dead monkeys and keeping the tanks temp and salinity stable.

I do however still have mating pairs and sea monkeys at all stages of life that are still very active.

I’ve had a decent amount of algae grow over the past five days and now I’m wondering if this is the cause of my sea monkey losses. I’m considering blacking the tank out for 24 hours to lower/kill the algae growth and/or doing a partial water change. I don’t really know what else to do.
Does anyone have any suggestions??
……

I’m going to turn my red/blue grow lights off. Dim my white light and double my air flow.

It’s been an hour and so far the brown algae on some of the surfaces (rock and glass marbles) isn’t producing bubbles anymore.

Let’s talk about decor and substrates!!

I’m very new to the hobby and have been lucky enough to not completely wipe out my tank. I really wanted a tank with stones, pebbles, shells etc.
After discovering a brine graveyard under one of my shells I’m annoyed at myself for not listening to others in this sub. Brine shrimp seem to like extremely tight dark spaces, but are unable to get back out and then another will come along and do the same thing…
When I thought of ‘pinch point’ I was only thinking about decor being close together but didn’t think about substrate and the curve of a shell being a place they would want to get themselves into.
Also, any decor that is a little pokey the males can get themselves hooked onto and unable to get themselves off the decor.
My next time around having a diy tank I will probably have a very basic tank with coarse sand or nothing.

Lots of monkeys!

I had a male with black spot a month back so started upping the salinity in the tank with store bought phytoplankton. I’m at 30ppt now and have a few breeding pairs while still feeding a tiny amount of phyto and spirulina.
Should I keep increasing the salinity to 35ppt or leave where it’s at?
I’ve been feeding daily, alternating between phyto and spirulina. Should I now back off feeding to only a few days a week?
I have a lot of ‘gunk’ floating around the tank. Some balls of lint I think had drifted into the tank because of a makeshift lid I made with a reusable produce bag I cut up and put on top. Should I remove the lint/other gunk and replace the water or leave everything alone?
