Anyone know what's happening with these random colour changes?
I'd love to know if there is a name for random colour changes in hair during childhood and adolescence. When searching online I only find information about people who has become grey with age and then suddenly have their usual colour return.
I have always had seemingly randomly coloured hair. For context, my mother had dark brown hair and my father has light brown/dark blonde hair. Both my siblings have had dark brown hair since birth. I'm white Norwegian 38F. My eyebrows are dark blonde/almost invisible and my body hair is mostly white/translucent or dark blonde. My hair is very fine and mostly straight.
When I was a toddler, my hair first came out white. Not blonde, it was white like chalk. Then for a few months or so, it suddenly started growing out pitch black, before returning to the pure white, so I have photos of myself somewhere as a 2 year old with white hair with a black stripe across the hair. It looked really odd!
It gradually darkened from white to dark blonde, light brown, then to a sort of mahogany reddish brown type of colour for I don't know, maybe 7 years? Then it became dark blonde with light blonde highlights here and there when I was 13-14 (high lights mainly visible in the summer), stayed like that for the next 6-8 years before turning ginger. Now I'm starting to get some white/grey hairs with my age and my general hair colour is sort of mousy strawberry blonde, I think is the best way to describe it.
I did dye my hair with semi-permanent or permanent colour occasionally (like black or bright red), but all the colours mentioned here were natural colours during years where I did not dye it.
My child had light blonde hair when he was a toddler and now has dark blonde hair as a teen, he didn't have these random colour changes that I did.
