How much should a repair cost to re set a stone in my ring?
So I got my rings 6 years ago from Kay’s (can’t stand them and want to go to a local jeweler from now on), I noticed last year the stone was shifted and when I took it in they told me I didn’t have the warranty that covers the setting - something we should have had but that’s just one item on the list of things that the salesperson screwed us on. I decided to wait until I had the money so my ring just sat in my jewelry box for one year until I decided to wear it one night to a celebration dinner for a friend - and the stone ended up falling out lol. But I still have the stone thankfully!
I took it to Kay’s and they told me it will be $399 to repair the ring and then another $369 to get the warranty so that it’s covered if it happens again.
I have no concept of what this should cost but I can definitely say I don’t really trust Kay’s. I am planning on going to a local jeweler (San Diego based if anyone has a recommendation lol) but I’m curious to know what this type of repair would typically cost so that I know what to expect!
