Folk Revival, Acoustic Songwriters & Soft Americana
Hi! I’ve been slowly putting this playlist together around the quieter, more intimate side of folk music. It moves between British folk revival, American acoustic songwriting, traditional ballads, country-folk and a little gentle blues and soft Americana.
The sound is mostly fingerpicked or lightly strummed acoustic guitars, unpolished voices, close harmonies and small, spacious arrangements — occasionally joined by fiddle, banjo or subtle strings. I’ve tried to keep the production natural and the mood warm, pastoral and reflective, without letting it become sleepy background music.
There’s Vashti Bunyan, Karen Dalton, Phil Ochs, Tia Blake, Martin Carthy, Mississippi John Hurt and plenty of others. I’d genuinely love recommendations for songs with the same intimate, lived-in feeling.
If you enjoy it, there are a few other carefully curated playlists on my Spotify profile — with more on the way :)
