Why are the cases for this phone so terrible?

UPDATE: seems I may have just been really unlucky with the 4 cases I tried. Signature cases with a normal profile do exist. It's just hard to see from the webstore pictures and select the right one. That said, ALL magsafe rings I've seen were completely misaligned compared to the official case.

One of the reasons I chose this phone is because it has similar width, weight and thickness as my old device, a Oneplus 6 (I know, my phones last long!). The signature is even a bit thinner, and I'm very happy with it out of the box.

What's really disappointing, is the available TPU cases. ALL of them:

  • Have the magsafe ring in the wrong place. Just compare it with the placement in Motorola's official case.
  • Are badly designed and WAY too thick. The OnePlus 6, with a standard TPU case, goes from 7.75mm, to ~9mm thick. The Signature, with a standard TPU case, goes from 6.99mm to ~13mm. With similar crazy increases in widt and weight.
  • Seem to be from at most 3 almost identical moulds. Barely any variety with identical oversized measurements and erroneous mag ring placement.

Does anyone know why this is? Is it like this for all phones nowadays? Or is it only because the Signature is not as widely adopted as Samsung and Apple devices? Meaning companies don't invest much in making a proper fit? I rarely buy phones so I wouldn't know.

I'm somewhat annoyed. The Signature is a beautiful, slim, lightweight device that sets itself apart with flagship specs. IMO it's the ergonomic sweet-spot on the market right now. I loathe that every single case for it so far turns it into an unwieldy brick.

Thanks for reading my rant and please do share suggestions if you have any.

Edge Lighting on the Motorola Signature?

Received my device today. Love it so far, but am a bit surprised to find the 'Edge Lighting' options missing from the Personalization menu in the settings.

Searching online doesn't give a definitive answer on if Motorola displays with a 'half-curve' like the Signature and specific Edge 50, 60 and 70 models even come with the Edge Lighting feature.

I found posts on Reddit and Lenovo forums confirming a store model of an Edge 70 Fusion had the Edge Lighting options, but their own personal model didn't.

Do any of you have this option in their menu? And if not, do you have any other suggestions for something that can replace the function of a notification LED?

Loopslot en rozet mismatch

Hoi allemaal.

With Reddit removing all grandfathered OAuth codes from our accounts, are we expecting the alternative OAuth method to break soon as well?

Reddit explicitly promised to not remove previously issued OAuth authorizations. However, as reported in this sub, they have started doing so en masse.

Presumably, this is due to our use of the grandfathered OAuth being in violation of Reddit's policies.

Do we expect the current method (using Redreader's authorization) to stop working soon as well?

Can you recommend me something?

I just finished the most recent audiobook of Path of Dragons and freaking loved it (do NOT sleep on this one).

It's honestly my favorite Randidly-Hunter-of-the-Fall type apocalypse system integration cultivation progression litrpg.

I love that entire setting due to:

  • The social paradigm shift (e.g. dealing with both other natives post-apocalypse, and integrating into the larger universe)
  • The settlement building
  • The crafting
  • The brutal introductions and tutorials
  • The progression (/cultivation) focus
  • System (integration) events!
  • Ranking ladders

I love Path of Dragons in particular due to:

  • MC's class (he's a >!druid!<) is very unique among its contemporary series
  • MC is somewhat OP but in an explainable way. He gets some leg-ups but he definitely has to work for it.
  • MC is relatable in the way he makes decisions
  • Mix of cultivation progression and litrpg
  • Cool crafting and settlement building
  • Cool integration of wider universe peoples on earth

Some others (roughly) in this genre I remember reading and liking (and ticking some of the boxes above), in addition to the staples I mentioned in 2nd paragraph):

  • Battle Trucker
  • Apocalypse Parenting
  • Stitched Worlds (/ System Apocalypse?)
  • BuyMort

Reading the above, do you have any recommendations I've been sleeping on? Thanks!

(Only one I didn't really like that much was Savage Awakening.)
