How's campus/ student life and the Ecology and Evolution B.S.?

Hi! Thinking of applying to transfer over winter into the Ecology and Evolution program! Would I be missing much if I'm missing the fall semester? Is it uncommon to transfer in the middle of the academic year or would it be bad to?

Coming from the city of LA, I was wondering how bustling student life is. How are clubs, are they active? Any fun clubs going around like bouldering/ dancing/ archery/ etc? Any parties or fun public events generally? Any clubbing lol

Also, if you've been in the EEB program, how do you like it? Is it a mix of field work and lab work or research? Did you feel like there were many options towards employment after graduation?

OH and housing.. I'd have to figure that out, same with transportation. Are bikes common? Or would it be better to get around with a car?

How's student life and the Wildlife B.S. ecology & conservation program?

Applying last minute for Humboldt and curious to see how people fare socially. I'm from LA so i'm used to city life and having options of where to hang and meet people, and although I like nature I'm afraid I might feel isolated in Arcata. I'm also curious about how many Asians there are on campus or in the wildlife program as an Asian myself.

How are clubs, are they active? Any fun clubs going around like bouldering/ dancing/ archery/ etc? Are people in the wildlife program chill? Any parties or fun public events generally? Any clubbing lol

Regarding the Wildlife B.S., if you've been in the program how did you like it? Is it a mix of field work and lab work or research? Did you feel like there were many options towards employment after graduation?

Advice on transferring/ working in conservation.

Hey all, i've got my biology related associates for transfer with going into wildlife conservation in mind, like field work/ lab work/ endangered species work. But to be honest, i'm a bit late to the game as someone in their mid 20s and I have very little experience with it, just the need to want to do something fulfilling with a love for animals and nature.

I'd love to get more experience but I live in LA so everything is far or I don't know of any organizations locally. If anyone has any pointers of any organizations, that'd be great.

As for universities, I'm looking at Humboldt's Wildlife Ecology, Conservation, and Management program, UCSC's Ecology and Evolution program, or UCDavis's Wildlife, Fish and Conservation Biology program, but I'm not sure which one would be the best. So far i'm interested in Humboldt's hand on approach but I'm wary of feeling out of place due to the lack of diversity and things to do in a rural area as an Asian who grew up with city life. UCSC's location is ideal but I hear their program only really prepares you for the graduate program? If i apply to UCDavis's program i'd have to stay another year at community college to complete orgo. If you guys have been in these programs i'm very interested to hear about your experiences. If there are also other programs from different unis id love to hear about it.

I basically need a reality check if conservation is feasible, if so where to go for transfer/ get experience? Having my quarter life crises here.
