I was the dad that didn't want the dog....

This damn dog has turned out to be the kindest, gentlest, sweetest, laziest, most loving dog I’ve ever come across.

He really doesn’t ask for much—food, butt scratches, belly rubs, and a little playtime in the yard. Okay, he does occasionally act like he hasn’t eaten since the Great Depression, and he takes up roughly 85% of any couch he touches—but otherwise, he’s a simple man.

And somehow, in return, he has given us more than I ever expected: so much love, laughter, comfort, and that quiet companionship that makes a house feel more like home.

I thought she was bringing home a dog. It turns out she brought home a giant, sleepy best friend with an even bigger heart.
