Damp crawl space (pier and beam home in East Texas)
Hello all. The home we're living in is having an issue with our flooring buckling and coming loose. At first, I thought maybe the previous people installed it wrong, until I noticed the subfloor was getting weak. I crawled under the house and found the ground to be damp and wet, which, I'm sure you guessed, is creating moisture on the subfloor thus rotting it out.
The land is sloped starting from the front yard and grades down towards the back yard. Is this my issue? Excess rain water running under the house creating my moisture issue? Or is it a humidity issue?
The home has no vapor barrier, and I dont think I can afford to hire someone, or do it myself. Theres also no crawlspace ventilation on the siding either. Also, the full length of the porch, there exists no siding. Its completely open.
Thanks inadvance for any inputs. This issue is out of my wheelhouse and I like to fix it before I start my repairs on the subfloor.
Tl;dr: crawlspace is creating excess moisture that's causing the subfloor to rot. Too much rain? Humidity issue? Ventilation issue?
