Tyromancy is a method of divination or fortune-telling using cheese. Written accounts of the practice date from the 2nd century AD, with it reaching the height of its popularity in the Middle Ages and early modern period and continuing as a practice into the 21st century.
C. E. M. Joad (1891-1953) was an English philosopher and broadcasting personality. He popularised philosophy and became a celebrity, before his downfall in a scandal over an unpaid train fare in 1948, severely affecting his health and leading him to renounce agnosticism and return to Christianity.
