Lego Daily Bugle 76178

Hi all, I hope you’re well
Apologies if this isn’t the correct sub to be asking this on.

Does anyone know where I can buy the Lego Daily Bugle 76178 from? I know it’s retired but a few people have previously said they are seeing ‘stock’ come and go.

BoleBricks Supra A80

Hi guys,

Here’s my quick review of the officially licensed BoleBricks Toyota Supra A80.

I paid £130 for the set with the box and for that price I’m over the moon with it.
I love the way it looks, there are a few iffy things (I think the rear is slightly too boxy) but the side profile, front end and spoiler capture the shape really well.

There are some nice printed parts, including the dashboard pieces, Toyota logos and the “12” on the front. I swapped the standard grey callipers for chrome ones and used the F&F livery (stickers) as opposed to the tribal ones.
I also left the roof off as I thought it looked weird and wanted the car to resemble Brian’s Supra more closely.

Piece count is 4,000+ and the build took me around 25 hours but it was very enjoyable. The bricks were smooth, consistent in colour and I had no clutch issues.

The steering is pretty poor, but the suspension, pistons and doors work well. I chose not to install the lights that were included as this will sit on my display shelf.

This is my first set from BoleBricks but I’m really impressed with the set, their Audi Quattro is definitely next on my list.

Finished the BoleBricks Supra A80

Hi all,

Here’s my review of the BoleBricks Supra A80 (Officially licensed by Toyota).

Visually, I think they’ve done a really good job. The side profile captures the shape nicely, especially the front end (thanks to the custom moulded piece) and spoiler. I think the rear end is maybe a bit too boxy for my liking but others may disagree.

One thing I really appreciated is that the set comes with a few printed parts. Most of them are used for the interior dashboard pieces, but you also get printed Toyota logos on the front and rear, plus the “12” on the front of the car.
The only thing I changed was the callipers. The standard technic grey ones looked a bit dull to me, so I swapped them for chrome ones. It’s a small change, but I think it makes the wheels look much better. I also opted for the F&F livery (stickers) over the tribal one they included. The stickers were decent enough, but definitely not Lego quality.

I also left the roof off. The set does include one, but in my opinion it made the car look a bit odd. I wanted it to look closer to Brian’s Supra, and I think it looks much better without it.

As for the build itself self, the set took me around 25 hours in total (it’s a 4000+ piece set) I’m definitely not the fastest builder with these sorts of sets, but I really enjoyed the process. It never felt like a chore and nothing was repetitive. The bricks themselves were brilliant. They felt smooth and I had no clutch issues. Colour uniformity was also solid.

Feature wise, it’s a bit mixed. It has steering, but it’s rubbish. It technically works, but I wouldn’t call it a highlight. The suspension and pistons are much better though, and the doors work nicely too. The set also comes with lights for the headlights and tail lights, but I didn’t bother installing them. I didn’t want the extra stress, especially as this is only going to be a display piece.

Overall, I’m really pleased with it. I paid £130 for it and for that price It’s definitely worth it.

LaoLiang Hypercar 01 — Pearlescent Macarons Edition

Just wanted to share a quick review of the LaoLiang Hypercar 01 as I’ve seen LaoLiang’s sets being mentioned on here a couple of times.

I’m super chuffed with this set. I bought it from BAVBRICK primarily because of the pearlescent pink colour. To my knowledge I think the set is usually only available in green.

Depending on the lighting, it shifts from a softer pearly pink to a vivid hot pink. In terms of the build its self, it was lovely. There were some really interesting techniques and sometimes questionable connections throughout the set but I really enjoyed building the gearbox and rear suspension.

The finished car has really great shaping. Has all the usual functions (suspension, pistons, proper scissor doors, HOG steering etc) so nothing really special but they all work.

Before building it, I had heard mixed things about the brick manufacturer, but the parts were buttery smooth and I had no issues with fit or clutch. The instructions were also among the best I’ve used. Super clear and well presented.

Overall, I’d highly recommend it.

BoleBricks Toyota Supra A80

This just arrived today, I can’t wait to build it. I don’t know much about BoleBricks but their technic Audi Quattro S1 looks amazing too.
Will leave a review once it’s finished.
