Good books with bad prose to read in translation

I'm looking for relatively simple and engaging books to read in different languages to practice and improve my reading skills and vocabulary.

The books would have to be relatively popular (so that they are translated in the first place).

They shouldn't be too hard to read, but still interesting enough to be engaging.

The best candidates would be good books that have simple and/or bad prose, so as not to miss too much in translation.

Some examples could be: Brandon Sanderson (he is often criticized for his bland prose, but lauded for his world building and plot development), Dan Brown (interesting stories, but relatively uninspired prose), Twilight/50 Shades of Gray (bad prose, simple and potentially interesting stories).

Do you have other examples of books that wouldn't lose anything (and might even be better) in translation?

Hide vertical tabs completely, show on hover

Is there a way to hide the vertical tabs completely and only show them on hover? I want it to work like it does in Zen Browser and Brave. The current implementation of showing icons in a relatively thick sidebar is very distracting. Not to mention that they seldom actually expand on hover...

Any plans for 300 PPI versions WITHOUT touch and frontlight?

Ever since I got into e-readers I've been looking for the holy grail: an ereader with the latest Carta tech (in this case 1300), 300 PPI and no touch or frontlight.

Why?

For screen clarity and contrast.

Every single layer makes the contrast worse: touch, light, protective glass. And the reason why the Xteink devices have such great contrast is because they lack those layers. They have better contrast than ereaders with higher contrast screens.

This can easily be seen on ereaders such as Onyx Boox Go 10.3 and Note Max, which lack a frontlight. The contrast on those is much better than on other Onyx devices. But they could be improved even further without touch and the scratchy screen surface for better writing feel.

An ereader for just reading, like these devices are, doesn't have to care about writing feel or any other considerations and can maximize for contrast and clarity.

I really hope Xteink takes the opportunity to create the perfect small ereader with the clearest screen on the market using 300 PPI Carta 1300 and no touch and light!
