Nobody Expects the Dirt Dober (CM17)

Not going to pretend like they're the strongest team I ever put on the track, but after Dober's struggled the past couple of CMs that I've put her in, it was nice that she finally—somehow—found her chance to shine on a 2000m dirt race.

Unfortunately, despite a very strong qualifier showing, Tickezo was the victim of a targeted assassination in the finals (an auto-trainer El Condor Pasa dying and blocking her backwards by about 80 meters before she finally got around them) and finished a bummer 8th, but Dober and Taiki stepped up.

Ticket gets to take a seat for now, but [Camping] Dober and [still Camping] Taiki will be returning for CM18 at Hanshin 1600m.

Filing this CM16 ace under "One and Done"

Got spooked by Akebono while I was binging the camping banner and immediately knew I had to run her for CM16.

Hard to take sprints seriously, so I didn't want to put a ton of effort into it... and fortunately I didn't have to. Bono pretty much stuck the landing on her first run. Sure it'd be nice to have Speed capped, but with 1200 Power, Right-Handed, and Firm Course Menace, I think she'll be just fine.

Now just have to make my other two aces... 🙏

CM14 Open League "Census" (a.k.a. "When You Give An Accountant A Video Game")

Every CM I track all of my lobbies in terms of what umas appear, what styles are being run, and how common things like "zero-front" or "triple debuffer" lobbies are (although for CM14 I didn't bother tracking debuffers—mile races just be like that, and I stopped caring).

Global in general, and Open League in particular, has historically been very pace-heavy, but the past couple of CMs have slowly seen folks branching out (mostly into front runners). Only 13 out of 81 matches this CM had zero fronts (not counting my own), with the average being nearly 1.5 "not mine" fronts per race. Lots of other data as well, for folks who might be interested.

Yes, that even includes the one nut who ran Front Vodka...

(CM14) Wire-to-Wire Win for Autism Daughter, 79-2 record overall

But Hishiama sure tried to make it close there at the end!

Rare four-front lobby (featuring a Seiun Sky, another Vourbon, and Turf S Falco), but she held first from the gate to the finish and hit just about everything she could hit along the way.
