Today my wife officially ended my open water swimming for the next 5 years.
I’ve been swimming in open water occasionally for a while.
Recently, we moved to a new place in Louisiana for my wife’s MD residency, and I was looking for rivers to swim in.
She wasn’t impressed with this idea and today she sent me a screenshot with a clear "DON'T SWIM HERE! This infection is rare, and while we realize that it’s an amoeba, your brain is still going to turn to mush.”
So, gators aren't even my biggest fear anymore, and the local pool is looking like my best option for the next 5 years 🤦♀️
