I tore my other ACL

English is not my first language.

So, I (30F) tore my right ACL and both menisci in June 2025 while playing rugby. At the time, I was doing my psychiatry residency, but after the surgery, everything went downhill. I fell into a very deep depression and, in the end, I never went back to finish my specialty training. It was one of the most painful experiences of my life, both physically and mentally.

I trained so incredibly hard just to be able to play again with my friends. Two weeks ago, I finally got the green light to return to rugby.

First game back. Five minutes in. I tore my left ACL.

I am absolutely devastated. I honestly feel destroyed right now. I don’t know how to process this or how I’m supposed to go through all of this again.

Please, if anyone has lived through something similar — especially athletes who had consecutive ACL injuries — can you tell me how you got through it?
