Advice - Sale Agreed post engineer survey
Hi all, looking for a bit of outsider opinions, went sale agreed on a house at the top end of my budget, ex corpo 2 up 2 down, relatively nice area thought it might need modernising but livable at current.
Got the engineers report back where it looks like worst case scenario it may need a new roof, drainage is dreadful and asbestos piping was identified, dodgy shower install so will need a bit of electric work, new boiler, old windows which wasn’t a huge concern originally but seemly bad install so gaps everywhere and a few other smaller bits.
I originally didn’t mind that let’s say it needed a new boiler and a bit of cosmetic stuff and in time I could do the windows but I’m trying to get a gauge of am I mad to consider wanting to go forward with something I possibly can’t afford to make habitable. Also is it reasonable to go back to the estate agent with an altered offer/ask the owner to do remedial work prior to continuing sale or due to this market would it even be worth entertaining
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
