Tools for modulating music qualities in real time?
I'm a brand new hobbyist dev with an idea for a game that needs me to be able to modify qualities of a music when a variable changes as part of the core gameplay.
Eg. I want to make the background music sound more or less "robotic" or "muffled/underwater" and modulate pitch and speed separately.
Are there any tools that allow for this? Im not locked into a specific engine yet, am open to learning anything with good documentation, but prefer something that'll be free for small projects.
Hopefully this isn't a stupid question, I tried searching it to no avail. thanks in advance for any advice!
Edit: I built a prototype in gdevelop but couldn't figure out how to modulate pitch and speed separately, which led me to think that maybe the audio technology isn't in this engine
