My husband our cat and I are moving about 1500 miles from central US to CT sometime this summer and we're trying to wrap our heads around estimating cost especially with shipping cars?
We plan to ship 2 cars, ship a small ubox/pod, and fly with our cat.
I'm so overwhelmed with the car shipping part. Made the mistake of trying to get a quote online and i am inundated with tens of texts saying itll be anywhere from 500-1800 to ship BOTH cars?? everywhere i read says to expect 1600 to ship one car?? I'm a bit confused about how 2 cars are about the cost of 1? Everywhere says to be careful with bait and switch but every company i got a quote from i look it up and its "beware they never showed up" or "they tripled the price last minute" so it sounds like bait and switch is inevitable?? Or its suspicious bot like posts saying (x company is the best ever and they give the best quotes no surprises) idk what to do other than expect the worst..
What should we actually be ready to pay to ship the 2 cars from KS/MO to CT/MA even though the highest quote we got was 1800 to ship both? is that just a blatant bait and switch? Or is it genuinely about the same cost to ship 2 cars as 1?
We have ruled out driving the car ourselves with hotel stays and dealing with our cat (she cannot handle the car and will find a way to escape somewhere along the way) and we would much rather just fly and be done with it.
